The Ordinary

"My brain hurts," he said flatly. He rubbed his temples slowly, as if he could use his hands to get rid of the pain.

"Did you try taking Advil, or something?" she said while checking her email. She was always distracted these days it seemed. When was the last time she glanced at him and had their eyes meet, and gently at that. She was fierce and, well, a badass. She got it done.

"This is a weird pain... I've never felt something like this before.." he said, eyes closed.

"Hmm, hang on a sec. Let me finish writing this email to our team lead," she said still focused on her computer.

"You know, when do you ever give me your undivided attention? You're always working, and if you're not working, you're doing your writing, even until late into the night..."

"Hey." she closed her laptop. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, breathed out. She then shifted her body towards him, she opened her eyes, and looked into his eyes.

He felt the pain subside a little. Her eyes were smiling at him. He smiled.

"Should we make a doctor's appointment?" she asked him.

"Just kiss me," he said quietly.

She inched closer to him at the dining room table. Her face was in front of his. She leaned in, and gave him a long, innocent-like kiss. Surprised, he closed his eyes as she kissed him for what could have been eternity. Their lips unlocked and she moved away from him and sat squarely in her chair.

"I feel better," he said and smiled.
