Atmospheric Rivers

The rain fell, and it fell in a fury. Sideways, up-side-down, zig-zag. It came down from every direction it seemed. She felt a sense of danger when it first started pelting down, but the only somewhat negative outcome she could see was some leaking from a couple of windows upstairs, but all else remained safe.

After the rain started to subside for a moment, she let out a huge sigh. She let air out of her lungs and through her nostrils and she slumped over. She closed her eyes. Something strange came to her. Her father, who died over 10 years ago, appeared in her thoughts. He smiled at her. She opened her eyes, breathing fast, it was the first time she had "seen" him since his passing. He looked younger, happier.

She wanted that image to linger. To stay a bit longer. She felt less alone somehow. She remembered him and felt his love in that moment that his image appeared to her.
