She opened her eyes, and instantly wanted to keep them closed. She tossed and turned, but knew she had to get up in 10 minutes. "Ugh, not again," she groaned. The encouraging sunlight peeped out from between the curtains, coaxing her to wake. Her alarm goes off again after hitting snooze twice.
"Okay, okay, you win." She flings the bed covers off of her, hits her legs on the sheets a couple of times, as if she were swimming the backstroke in place. Then she bolts straight up. Gotta get UP.
Her phone vibrates. Okay, guess I'll check it.
"Hello?"
"Jo Jo, you're awake, okay..." her mom exclaims but sounding hesitant on what to say next.
"Yeah, mom, what's up?"
"It's your dad, he went back to the hospital this morning. You're going to have to fly out here, it's not looking too good."
I gasp. My heart stops. "He's okay, though, right?"
"Just come home, sweetie."
