2020 was a year that
devastated us all.
We suffered, fell ill, lost work
And many of our
loved ones
died.
We cried in horror, filled with grief
Our bodies shook in despair
It was too much, it was all
too much
Yet we lived on
After you, after them
We prayed for better days
For more sunlight, for a vaccine, for a solution
It came to us in December.
Vaccines arrived along with our raised hopes with them
We cheered on first responders
And we cried tears of joy now, brimming with hope
2021, please walk with us with peace, harmony
new lives.
Be our daylight, our joy, and our new paths
With the new day, the new year
Bring us back to ourselves
As a whole, undivided and attentive to this new year
